Two days before the final between Spain and Argentina, organizers and local authorities have a new unexpected problem, and that is the air quality in New York.
The large wildfires in Canada and the smoke from them have caused problems in the wider metropolitan area. Health services have also issued a warning not to go outdoors (unnecessarily) and to reduce physical activity, or to wear masks if necessary.
The final between Spain and Argentina will be played on Sunday, starting at 21 p.m., and around 80.000 spectators are expected.
The Spanish national team trained and had no reactions to the air, while Argentina will have their first training session after the match with England tonight.
Problems with smoke and polluted air will also affect the holding of other sporting events in that part of the United States and Canada.
The arrival of US President Donald Trump at the finale has also been announced.
