Australia will ban the Chinese app TikTok from all government mobile devices, joining a series of similar security decisions in a number of Western countries, Justice Minister and Attorney General Mark Dreyfuss said.
- Such a decision was made on the advice of the Australian intelligence services and will be implemented as soon as possible, said Dreyfuss.
He added that possible exceptions will be allowed on a case-by-case basis and with the implementation of appropriate security measures.
According to Australian media, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese agreed to ban TikTok on all government mobile devices after receiving advice based on Home Office analysis.
