A Russian missile attack on a railway depot in the Ukrainian capital Kiev has killed seven people, according to official information. There have been fires and extensive material damage, railway director Oleksandr Pertsovsky wrote on Facebook. At the same time, dozens of railway workers managed to take shelter and remain safe.
Earlier, it was reported that three people were killed in a heavy airstrike with missiles and drones in the city of Boryspil. President Volodymyr Zelensky said after the overnight attacks that a total of twelve people were killed and dozens were injured across Ukraine. Odessa, Kharkiv, Zaporizhia, Kherson and other cities were also attacked, he wrote on the X platform.

"Russia always plans its attacks in such a way as to cause as much destruction as possible to people's lives, and it succeeds when there is a lack of air defense capabilities," Zelensky said. Ukraine is grateful for all the air defense assistance, but deliveries should be further increased this fall, he stressed.

EU defense ministers are set to discuss continued support for Ukraine in its defensive war against Russia today (September 1.09) in Wicklow, Ireland. Topics will include, among other things, cooperation with the Ukrainian defense industry.
The Russian Defense Ministry said Russian forces had carried out a "massive attack" using long-range weapons and drones. The attack targeted military-industrial facilities, as well as fuel and energy installations in Kiev and the surrounding region. The ministry also reported attacks on infrastructure in the Odessa region and on the ports of Odessa and Chornomorsk.
