All important legal solutions, and above all all solutions from the reform agenda, are being adopted in a transparent, public and accountable procedure like never before. All legal amendments regarding the fulfillment of the reform agenda will be adopted within the framework of the Parliament, with or without the support of SDSM – said VMRO-DPMNE MP Ljupco Prendzov at a press conference in the Parliament.
He said that he called the press conference in connection with the developments with the latest laws from the reform agenda, or, as he said, with the hypocrisy that SDSM and Venko Filipche are trying to push into the Parliament and the Macedonian political scene.
– All laws were in regular procedure, with deadlines respected, with experts consulted, with public hearings organized, and the like, where all those proposed by the opposition were invited, as well as the non-governmental sector and international organizations, the European Commission, etc.
The opposition actively participated in the preparation, shaping and further refining of these legal solutions. A double-digit number of amendments were accepted for each of the laws, and we are proud of that, because every good proposal should be incorporated into the legal solution, regardless of whether it comes from the expert community, the civil sector or the opposition.
According to the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament, 41 MPs are required to pass the Law on the Council of Public Prosecutors. It is clear that, according to the numbers in the Parliament, this legal solution would certainly have been passed. However, the fact that Venko Filipce and SDSM voted against this legal solution yesterday and clearly sent a message that they are against the reform agenda, integration into the European Union and a better judicial system is worrying. At the same time, the other day they announced that they are withdrawing from another reform law – the Electoral Code, and they clearly and unequivocally told us that they are against the Law on the Public Prosecutor's Office, which is in parliamentary procedure.
This is hypocrisy. This is the real SDSM – a political party that de jure talks about Europe, but de facto has never done enough to bring us one step closer to Brussels. That is why I publicly ask: in whose interest is this blocking of all reform laws? I only know that it is not in the interest of the citizens and Macedonia.
All legal changes in terms of fulfilling the reform agenda will be adopted within the framework of the Parliament, with or without the support of SDSM. Macedonia will move forward, regardless of politicking and hypocrisy.
Also, in the coming period, as a parliamentary group of VMRO-DPMNE and the Coalition, as well as as the Committee for Political System and Inter-Community Relations, we will continue to actively cooperate with all political stakeholders, non-governmental organizations and experts in order to create better laws. We will continue to organize public hearings, work transparently and accountablely and accept every proposal that means a better legal solution. We, as a political nomenclature, will continue to behave exclusively in accordance with the interests of the citizens and the state - said MP Prendzov at the press conference in the Parliament.
