Microbiologist Nikola Panovski, through a post on social media, harshly criticized the handling of the case in Gostivar, using a hypothetical scenario with a patient being treated for symptoms of poisoning.
In his post, Panovski describes a situation in which the prosecution, due to suspicion of intentional or negligent poisoning, orders laboratory tests, but their results are not available to doctors because, as he states, they are withheld in the interest of the investigation. According to his scenario, the cause of the poisoning is known only to the prosecution, while the doctors do not have the information necessary to treat the patient, who in the meantime dies.
Panovski adds that after the investigation is completed, it would be determined that there was a drug that could have saved the patient, but, as he states, it became "collateral damage" due to the unavailability of the results.
"Any similarity to Gostivar is intentional," Panovski wrote, adding that, according to his scenario, after the investigation is complete, the patient's family would sue the prosecution for murder and the health authorities for failure to provide assistance.
