Mbappe and Dembele lead France to World Cup semi-finals

Date:

France continues its march towards the World Cup title. The "Tricolors" defeated Morocco 2-0 in the quarter-final match in Boston and became the first national team to secure a place in the semi-finals of the World Cup.

The French were in control of the game from the first minute and created several chances in front of the Moroccan goal. Their biggest chance of the first half came in the 28th minute, when a penalty was awarded after a foul on Kylian Mbappe. The Real Madrid striker took the responsibility himself, but Yacine Bono made an excellent save.

The Moroccan goalkeeper was most deserving of his team's "zero" win, as he managed to stop several more dangerous attempts in addition to the penalty, and once the French hit the crossbar.

However, in the second half, the favorite materialized its superiority. In the 60th minute, Mbappe corrected the mistake of the first half and gave France the lead with a great goal.

Just six minutes later, Ousmane Dembele sealed the victory with a second goal and resolved all doubts about the semi-final spot.

Morocco failed to find a way to get back into the game, so France deservedly continued its march towards the trophy.

In the semi-finals, Didier Deschamps' team will meet the winner of the quarter-final match between Spain and Belgium.
