The opposition received a blank slate to fulfill its wishes regarding the Electoral Code, and they rejected it due to victimization, said VMRO-DPMNE spokesperson Valentin Manasievski.
"The coalition of SDS, Levica and DUI believe that if they play the victim, it will bring them more political points. The reality has come to the surface, and it is that VMRO-DPMNE, as the ruling party, accepts all the demands of the opposition, only that the diaspora can vote in an easier way. This is exactly what the coalition of SDS, Levica and DUI rejected. They refused to include the recommendations of the OSCE and ODIHR in the new electoral code, they refused to have one electoral district, they refused to spend more money on advertising, just so that they can present themselves as victims and spread this story as an alibi in the next elections, which they will historically lose," said Manasievski.
But, he added, by not adopting an Electoral Code, they are also directly trying to reduce Macedonia's success in the Reform Agenda.
"We are certainly leaders in the Western Balkans in implementing reforms, but the failure to adopt an electoral code is a direct indication that when they have the opportunity, SDS, Levica and DUI will obstruct. It was precisely in this process that it became clear why VMRO-DPMNE is in power, and why SDS, Levica and DUI are in opposition. The difference is evident. Some work in the interest of the state, and others in their own and party interests," said Manasievski.
