The Macedonian philologist, linguist, sinologist and translator from ancient Chinese and Chinese Igor Radev was included in the list of the most prominent sinologists in the world for 2024, which is made by the World Sinological Center of the Beijing Language University.
It is an annual ranking list of 10 scientists who made an exceptional contribution to the scientific field of Sinology in that year, prepared by the World Sinology Center at Beijing Language University.
The list was published three days ago.
Radev graduated in classical languages at the Faculty of Philology in Skopje, and received a master's degree in linguistics and a doctorate in Chinese philology at the Normal University in Beijing.
He is the winner of the Chinese state award "Chinese Award for Special Contribution to Literature" (the highest recognition in China in the literary and cultural field that can be awarded to a foreign citizen), the "Grigor Prlichev" award awarded by the Union of Literary Translators of Macedonia for the translation from ancient Chinese to Macedonian, and the award of the City of Skopje "November 13".
