Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, responding to a journalist's question today regarding the movement of inflation in the country and a comparison with other countries, said that in the conditions of two wars, one of which is flaring up again, the challenge for the government is to provide sufficient quantities of energy and at the same time not allow inflation to flare up. He also said that the government has a plan and reserves for every challenge.
– Inflation is one of those segments that occur in such challenging times. At the moment, in June, we managed to have the lowest level compared to all countries in the region. And I am especially pleased that for food it is somewhere around 2,5%, or for footwear and clothing around 2,1%, or it is below 3%. Tobacco, tobacco products and alcohol contribute up to 3,4%. And also transport services due to high fuel prices – said Mickoski.
He said that in the context of two wars that disrupt the supply of energy and other products, the challenge is to ensure timely and sufficient supply of energy to citizens and businesses, and for it to be at low prices.
He, as he said, assumes that Bitola residents are witnesses, as some of the neighbors come here and use the potential of the gas stations in the vicinity of Bitola or in Bitola to fill their tanks with fuel.
- Which means that we provide for them as well, not just for our needs - said Mickoski.
He reminded that the country has statistically by far the lowest fuel prices and hopes that the conflict in the Middle East will finally end and the government will be able to plan more structured and clearer in the period ahead.
-But even if it continues, we have a plan, we have enough reserves to respond to this challenge - said Mivkoski.
He noted that certain political forces in the country are spreading a wave of negative energy.
-This has been happening for two years, remember we were going to go bankrupt in 2024, but not then, here we are surviving. So in 2025 we were going to go bankrupt, we didn't go bankrupt. Now in 2026 we will go bankrupt, here we are not going to go bankrupt. Financially we are in a much better position than ever. So migrants were coming, they just didn't come, and now April has passed, July has come, we haven't seen a single migrant and so on. They will continue with their lies, that is part of their political strategy. We need to focus on what our goal is. And if that goal is truly our goal, we will realize that goal. It is important, to put it in sports jargon, to leave our heart on the field. If we leave it, then there will be results - said Mickoski.
