Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios helped the police catch a person who threatened his mother with a gun and then stole her car, the media reported today.
The ABC reported that court documents show Kyrgios used the Tesla app to track and slow down the vehicle as police chased him in Canberra on Monday morning.
According to those documents, the man pointed a gun at Kyrgios' mother, demanded the car keys and asked how to drive. When he got into the car, she ran away and called for help. Kyrgios, who was nearby, called the police and helped them track down the vehicle.
The police chase ended when the car entered a school zone. Soon the thief was arrested.
The 32-year-old man was refused bail after appearing in court on five charges in connection with the incident, which include aggravated burglary, driving a stolen vehicle, careless driving and refusing to stop.
Nick Kyrgios reached the finals of Wimbledon and the quarterfinals of the US Open last year, but has not played a match since last October, when he withdrew from the tournament in Japan due to a knee injury.
