Paris Saint-Germain have announced the signing of 26-year-old winger Ferran Torres (26). The World Cup-winning Spanish international has signed a contract with the French club until 2031 and will wear the number 9 shirt.
He is the first player born in the 21st century to play in La Liga. He was born on 29 February 2000, and made his debut for Valencia in the Spanish top flight against Eibar on 16 December 2017.
In 97 appearances for Valencia, he left a lasting impression and set a number of new records for his age, becoming, at 19 years and 324 days, the youngest player in the club's history to play 50 league games, as well as the first goalscorer born in the 21st century in the Champions League for a Spanish club. He won his first trophy as a professional in 2019, lifting the Copa del Rey.
His performances earned him a move to Manchester City in 2020. Under Pep Guardiola, he scored his first goal for the Citizens in the League Cup against Burnley, just six days after making his Premier League debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers. In 2021, he was part of Manchester City's run to the Champions League final, and also won the Premier League and League Cup. During the 2021–22 season, he played the first half of the season with Manchester City before moving to Barcelona during the winter transfer window. In total, the Spaniard made 43 appearances for City, scoring 16 goals and providing four assists.
At Barça, he quickly established himself as a key figure in the Catalan team's attack. In 207 appearances for Barcelona, he found the net 65 times, including in the 2025 Copa del Rey final victory over Real Madrid, where he helped his team take the match to extra time. With Barcelona, he won three La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey and two Spanish Super Cups.
