At least 13 people have been killed and dozens injured in a Ukrainian drone attack on the Russian republic of Tatarstan, with media reports suggesting a petrochemical plant was hit.
Radmir Belyaev, the mayor of the industrial city of Nizhnekamsk, said the drones targeted both civilian and industrial facilities during the attack, which injured 39 people. Unconfirmed reports said the Nizhnekamskneftekhim petrochemical plant, which produces synthetic rubber and plastics, was hit.
Tatarstan has declared a period of mourning after the deadly attacks on Nizhnekamsk. The city was previously attacked in June, when Ukrainian drones targeted the Tatneft refinery.
The Russian Defense Ministry announced that 456 Ukrainian drones were intercepted over Russia and Crimea last night and overnight.
