A spark is enough for a real disaster, warned today in a video message from a burned area, where only ash and dust can be seen, the director of the Directorate for Protection and Rescue, Stojanche Angelov, calling for greater caution.
Angelov informed earlier today that six fires are active across the country, but warned that the situation is still alarming, considering that there were 27 fires in open spaces yesterday.
– If it weren't for a good but careless person, or a bad but malicious person, this grass, bushes and thorns wouldn't be ashy and black. They would be green and alive. So be careful not to start a fire. A spark is enough for a real disaster – said Angelov.
Previously, Angelov informed that the three "air tractors" of the Directorate for Protection and Rescue are operating on the fire in Zheden, in the Municipality of Jazhince.
In a video statement from the scene, Angelov informed that the fire is burning on extremely steep terrain with dense bushes, through which movement is difficult.
– For these reasons, firefighters cannot act, which is why today the three "Air Tractors" are working with concentrated action at several points, where we intend to cut it off and prevent its spread. In this way, we will establish partial control, and by the end of the day we can also have full control of this difficult-to-extinguish fire – said Aneglov.
Angelov also expressed great gratitude to the three very brave SSO pilots, who, as he emphasized, are at work every day and selflessly fly low over the fires with the intention of extinguishing them and thus helping Macedonian citizens.
