The bear is trying to get away in the forest with her cubs, and the published video briefly shows the scene, as it can be seen that there were people walking on the road nearby.
Recently, a large number of bears were observed in the region of Mavrovo, and last year the most critical was in Žirovnica, where people complained that the bears were trying to enter their homes looking for food.
Eight months ago, the government adopted several measures, among which, in the shortest period of time, all small and large garbage dumps that are in the immediate vicinity of the populated areas or in the populated areas themselves, which represent a source of attraction for the bear, should be removed.
With the government measures, the control of all associated facilities in which food is stored, which can be easily accessible and which are near the place of residence, is foreseen; closure of all municipal waste disposal sites with a suitable security metal fence; provision of special storage facilities for bears outside populated areas; securing the property, especially in the places where livestock, bees and others are kept, with standardized equipment with electrical voltage; sleeping and dislocating bears, in cooperation with state authorities and scientific institutions; use of preventive means of intimidation and deterrence, as well as organized use of means of scaring bears.
According to the Hunting Law, the brown bear is a species for which a permanent hunting ban is prescribed.
