Chinese schoolgirl Zidi Yu (12) has become the youngest swimmer in history to win a medal at the World Aquatics Championships.
Yu won bronze after China took third place in the 4×200-meter relay.
Twelve-year-old Yu, who did not compete in Thursday's final, swam in the women's 4×200-meter freestyle relay qualifier earlier this week, earning her medal eligibility.
China finished third in the final in Singapore, behind the United States and Australia's champion relay team.
She is the youngest medalist at a major international event since Inge Sørensen of Denmark, who won bronze at the 1936 Olympics in the 200-meter breaststroke, less than a month after her 12th birthday.
"I'm quite emotional, I feel good," Yu said.
The girl, who will turn 13 in October, came close to individual success in the 200m breaststroke final on Thursday, but narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing in fourth place.
In May, Yu set a world record for 12-year-olds in the 200-meter individual medley with a time of 2:10,63 minutes, prompting the World Swimming Federation to call her a "sensation" on social media.
