The disciplinary committee of the Football Federation of Macedonia (FFM) has imposed unprecedented, rigorous penalties following the turbulent events at the end of the domestic football season. The worst-hit team was FC Shkendija, which is facing a real financial and competitive blow, while the Sileks and Vardar teams will also have to pay financial sanctions in the house of football.
Shkendija brutally punished: Expulsion from the Cup and four matches in front of empty stands
The behavior on the field and in the stands will cost the team from Tetovo dearly. Due to a whole range of serious violations during the final match of the Macedonian Cup against Sileks, the Disciplinary Committee imposed a total fine of up to 105.000 euros for FC ShkendijaThe Tetovo club has been fined 15.000 euros for using pyrotechnics, an additional 10.000 euros for nationalist chants and offensive slogans on a national basis, as well as another 20.000 euros for displaying a banner with Nazi content, for which they had previously been sanctioned by UEFA.
The biggest blow to the club, however, is not only financial. Due to the degrading and disrespectful attitude towards officials and the opposing team, as well as the scandalous refusal to accept the medals at the ceremony, Shkendija was fined 30.000 euros and express exclusion from the Macedonian Cup competition for the next season 2026/27To top it all off, due to booing and disrespect for the national anthem followed by discriminatory treatment during the final, the club will have to pay an additional 30.000 euros and will play the the next four home games behind closed doors, that is, without the presence of an audience.
Sileks got off with a lesser fine, sanction for champion Vardar too
The second finalist in the most popular domestic competition, FC Sileks, had a much easier time in this disciplinary process. Due to the use of pyrotechnics by their fans during the same final match in the Cup, the club from Kratovo was sanctioned with a fine of 5.000 euros.
The new champion FC Vardar is also on the agenda of the Disciplinary Committee. The most successful Macedonian club will have to pay a fine of 15.000 euros due to offensive chanting by the fans in the stands, but also due to inappropriate celebration of the championship title by the players themselves. To make matters worse for the "red-blacks", the commission additionally initiated a new disciplinary procedure against FC Vardar due to the use of pyrotechnics at the derby match from the 33rd round played against the Shkendija team.
