Paris was celebrating tonight! And not just because it hosted the prestigious Ballon d'Or ceremony, but because it was French giants PSG that emerged as the big winner of the evening.
The main award of the night for best player went to Ousmane Dembele, while PSG also triumphed in the categories for best team and best coach for Luis Enrique. A large number of Dembele fans gathered tonight to celebrate their favorite's award, and the footage from Paris is truly impressive.
And considering that Donnarumma was also voted the best goalkeeper during his time at the French club, then perhaps they should be given that accolade as well. Donnarumma said goodbye to PSG fans in tears this summer, and has already recorded several excellent performances for his new club, Manchester City.
Chelsea's Hannah Hampton was named the best goalkeeper in the women's competition. Viktor Gjokeres and Eva Payor won the Gerd Müller Trophy for top goal scorers.
Barcelona are second in terms of club success tonight. Their best player Aitana Bonmati took home the prestigious Ballon d'Or award for the third consecutive time, and accolades were also given to the club's young players – Lamine Jamal for best in the men's competition and Vicky Lopez for best in the women's competition.
Jamal arrived tonight with a large number of his family expecting to be the big winner of the evening, but he will still have to wait to celebrate his first Ballon d'Or.
