Ukrainian anti-corruption agencies have raided the properties of Volodymyr Zelensky's chief of staff, Andriy Yermak. The anti-corruption bureau NABU confirmed that searches are underway and that more details will be released later.
A major corruption scandal in the energy sector has rocked Ukraine in recent months, implicating people close to Zelensky, but no charges have been filed against Yermak, who is considered one of the most powerful men in the country. Yermak is also a leading negotiator in the ongoing peace talks with the United States.
He said that anti-corruption authorities were conducting "procedural activities at his home" and that he was fully cooperating with them.
Two ministers were removed after the revelation of a $100 million corruption scheme led by Zelensky's former business partner, Timur Mindych, who fled the country.
According to NABU, several individuals formed a criminal gang and built a large-scale corruption scheme to influence strategic public sector enterprises, particularly the state-owned nuclear energy operator Energoatom.
