Former US President and increasingly likely Republican presidential candidate for November's election, Donald Trump, criticized incumbent President Joseph Biden for making arms shipments and support to Israel conditional on refraining from a "full-scale invasion" of Rafah.
Trump accused Biden of siding with the Palestinian extremist Hamas, Israeli media reported today.
Trump wrote on social media that "Criminal Joe sides with the terrorists," alluding to Hamas, and said Biden "sides with the radical mobs that have taken over campuses because his donors are funding them."
"Biden is weak, corrupt and leading the world straight into World War III," the former US leader said, reiterating that the war between Israel and Hamas would not have started if he had been president.
US President Joe Biden said in an interview with CNN last night that his country will not supply Israel with offensive weapons that could be used to launch an "all-out assault" on Rafah, the last stronghold of Hamas in Gaza, because concern for the lives of more than a million civilians who have taken refuge there.
Biden said in the interview that the United States remains committed to the defense of Israel, to which it will send interceptor missiles for the "Iron Dome" and other defensive weapons, but if Israel "goes" to Rafah, Washington will not supply it with offensive weapons.
