Referee José Luis Munuera Montero, who showed Jude Bellingham a red card in the Osasuna-Real Madrid match, has disabled comments on his social media after he began receiving death threats.
Munuera showed the England international the way to the dressing room after the swearing was allegedly misinterpreted. Carlo Ancelotti explained in a press conference that there had been a misunderstanding, but Spanish media claimed that Bellingham had cursed the referee.
The red card angered Real Madrid fans who, like the club, believe they are being deliberately harmed during matches in the Spanish league. Some of them went too far and started threatening the referee with death. According to Mundo Deportivo, thousands of verbal attacks have appeared on his Instagram account against the experienced referee. Some of them featured pig and rat emojis, but some also included threats against him and his family.
