Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said today that accusations against Russia over drones allegedly discovered in European Union countries are unfounded and unsupported by evidence.
"All the accusations we hear, especially about drones somewhere in European Union countries, are unfounded. No facts, materials or evidence have been presented," Zakharova said.
She said that evidence had not been provided to either Russia or the public in EU countries.
Earlier in the day, the Romanian Ministry of National Defense said a Russian drone had entered Romanian airspace and crashed into an apartment building, causing a fire and injuring two people.
Following the incident, Romania decided to close the Russian Consulate General in Constanta and declare the Consul General persona non grata, Romanian President Nikosor Dan announced.
Zakharova said that Russia will soon respond to the measures taken in connection with this decision.
