Cristiano Ronaldo played his final World Cup match of his career. Portugal were eliminated by Spain in the round of 16, ending another attempt by the legendary forward to win the most prestigious trophy in world football.
At the age of 41, Ronaldo was left without the opportunity to ascend to the world throne, but he himself says that he does not see it as the biggest disappointment of his career.
The Portuguese recalled that he has already won major trophies with the national team, and especially highlighted the 2016 European Championship.
"I won the European Championship in 2016 and for me it has the same weight as the World Cup. That remains forever. Tomorrow is a new day, we move on," Ronaldo said.
The Portugal captain then spoke about his influence on the national team.
"Portugal before Cristiano Ronaldo had zero trophies, and with me they won three," he added.
Ronaldo recalled the three major trophies won with the national team, the 2016 European Championship and the Nations League titles in 2019 and 2025.
