Formula 1 Racing Bulls (Team RB) driver Daniel Ricciardo said he was overcome with emotion during the Singapore race, potentially the Australian's last in the fastest caravan.
Ricciardo finished 18th in Singapore, a full lap behind winner Lando Norris in the McLaren.
Well-informed members of the media, including former Formula 1 aces and former Red Bull program members, believe Liam Lawson will replace Ricciardo by the end of the season.
Asked to comment on the announced allegations, Ricciardo said that he was satisfied with what he had achieved, although he did not get the opportunity to fulfill his championship ambitions in a competitive car.
"There is a possibility that this was my last race in Formula 1. If this is the end, I am at peace with the way my F1 career will end. It will definitely happen to all drivers at some point," said Ricardo and added:
"I tried to come back to Red Bull, but I didn't succeed. Then I asked myself, if I'm no longer competing for a better ranking, what am I really trying to achieve? I'm proud of my 14 years in Formula 1, even if I don't have a fairytale ending to my career."
In Formula 1, Ricciardo drove for Toro Rosso, the predecessor of the team he currently competes for, Red Bull, Renault (Alpin's predecessor) and McLaren.
