With today's duel against Morocco (from 18:27), Macedonia will close the second group stage, in the so-called President's Cup of the World Handball Championship. The match will depend on whether we will win the third or second place in the group in Plock, which, in turn, will direct us to the final showdown for placement in 29th or XNUMXth place.

Hardly anyone assumed before the championship that we would do the math so that we would not be placed in the 30th position in the final ranking, but the reality came down to that. At least, the math is simple, we need to not lose today against the Moroccans and with that we will qualify for a duel against South Korea, on Wednesday, for the 27th position. Defeat will mean a duel with Saudi Arabia, to avoid the 30th place.

Morocco is the first national team to experience a surprise at this World Cup, with the defeat by the USA in the first round. However, from then on, they didn't really show that that defeat was undeserved, because they lost by double digits to both Egypt and Croatia in the preliminary group, and then suffered from Tunisia with 25-30. In the match with Algeria, for almost 59 minutes, it seemed that he would string together another defeat, but with three goals in 80 seconds, he earned the premier triumph of this meeting.

As much as it seems that it is below our level, Morocco is the bronze selection of the last African Championship, which, to earn that trophy, defeated this same Tunisia (28-24) and it all happened exactly half a year ago. There are six handball players in the team, who play in France, but only two in the first league, in Tremblay.

Macedonia has not yet faced this rival at the World Championships.
