Piastre will start from pole position in Bahrain

McLaren driver Oscar Piastre has taken pole position ahead of the Bahrain Grand Prix, the fourth race of this year's Formula One championship.

The Australian achieved his second pole position of the season and career at the Sakir track with a time of 1:29.841 minutes, with a tenth and a half advantage over George Russell in Mercedes.

Closest to the two was Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc, while the overall leader fell behind – Lando Norris will take sixth place, while defending champion Max Verstappen will be behind him, on the fourth starting row.

The fourth qualifying session of the season was marked by an interruption in the second half, when Hasa driver Esteban Ocon destroyed his car after going over the pavement and hitting the fence.
