Three years ago in Macedonia, a heart beat for the first time after a transplant. The team was led by Sashko Jovev. The crown of his personal professional commitment – with these words the doctor described the achievement.
A few years later, praise and kind words are in the background. The public remembers, but the Minister of Health does not acknowledge him. Instead, Majiti signed a decision to replace the director of the Cardiac Surgery Clinic.
Unofficial information says that the reason for the change is Mejitti's dissatisfaction with the chosen date for the opening of the hybrid operating room - an event that the minister could not attend due to personal commitments.
In the meantime, the minister confirmed the information about the replacement of Jovev.
"THERE WILL NO LONGER BE DIRECTORS WHO SIT AND SLEEP AFTER FIVE OR TEN YEARS AND HAVE NO RESULTS. THAT'S WHY HEALTH IS IN SUCH A DEPRECIATED STATE. WHENEVER THERE ARE IRREGULARITIES IN WORKING AND IN EVERYTHING ELSE – I WILL DO THIS. THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING. YOU WILL SEE FURTHER THAT WHILE I AM A MINISTER, NO ONE WILL SIT FOR SIX MONTHS. HE WILL SUBMIT A REPORT ON WHAT HE HAS WORKED" SAID FATMIR MEDJITI, MINISTER OF HEALTH.
All employees, doctors, and all the medical and non-medical staff of Cardiosurgery are unanimous that the dismissal of Jovev represents an attempt to destroy one of the public health institutions that treats the most difficult cases.
They are fully behind the longtime director. Doctor Jovev says about Thelma that he has not yet received the decision on the transfer and commented on the minister's statement.
"I HEARD THAT THE MINISTER ANNOUNCED SUCH A THING, BUT I HAVEN'T SEEN THE SOLUTION FOR MY SHIFT. ONCE I RECEIVE IT OFFICIALLY, I WILL ANNOUNCE WITH AN ATTITUDE. I AM A SURGEON WHO OPERATES 24/7 AND THE ACCUSATIONS THAT I DO NOTHING ARE RIDICULOUS AND COMPLETELY UNBASED" SAYS PROF. Dr. Saško Jovev for Thelma.
Director Jovev with the whole team behind him announced a press conference for tomorrow at noon.
Unofficially, all employees were united in their opinion that they would not accept a new director and that they were ready for a strike. They sent a letter about this to all embassies and to the minister.
According to unconfirmed information, the name of Dr. Valjon Asani, an interventional cardiologist from Tetovo, was mentioned as the new director. In a telephone conversation with Thelma, Dr. Assani completely dismissed this speculation as untrue. No one asked for it, nor did they discuss such a thing, says Dr. Asani.
