Production on the upcoming Amy Winehouse biopic Back to Black has released the first photo of actress Marisa Abella in the lead role. The film will be directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, and filming begins today in London.
The film will follow Winehouse from her dynamic early years in London to her intense journey to stardom. Last July, it was announced that the late singer would be played by 26-year-old English actress Marisa Abella, who does not have a large collection of roles behind her, but will also appear in "Barbie" with Margot Robbie.
"I am fully aware of the responsibility that shooting the film brings. I will strive to create a film that we will all love forever. Same as Amy. "When I first heard her live on a talent show, I knew right away that she wasn't just a talent, she was a genius," said Taylor-Johnson, known for her hit Fifty Shades of Grey.
Back to Black is slated for release in 2024.
