The San Antonio Spurs won their 60th NBA regular season game with a 115-102 home win over Philadelphia, but the win was overshadowed by the injury to Victor Wembanyama.
There is still no official information on how long the young Frenchman, who was injured in the first half, will be out. The club announced on social media that the 22-year-old center will not return to the court until the end of the game. In just under 16 minutes of play, Vembanyama recorded 17 points, five rebounds and three blocks, confirming his candidacy for the best defender in the league.
Interestingly, the Frenchman, including this match, has played 64 matches this season, which is just one match, or about 20 minutes, short of the minimum required to compete for individual awards at the end of the regular season, including the recognition for most valuable player.
In his absence, Stephon Castle led the Spurs with 19 points, 10 rebounds and 13 assists for a triple-double. On the other side, Joel Embiid was the most enthusiastic with 34 points and 12 rebounds.
At the top of the Western Conference, and also in the entire league, remains the Oklahoma City Thunder with a record of 62-16, while San Antonio has played a game more and two wins less.
