One of the most iconic Macedonian football brands, FK Pobeda from Prilep, no longer exists on the competitive map. Through an official statement to the public, the club confirmed that the senior team is leaving the Second Macedonian Football League (VMFL) due to complete financial collapse and institutional deadlock.
Chronology of the Fall: Without a Boss and Without Help
Pobeda's problems culminated after the change in ownership structure in April 2025. The new majority shareholder, according to the announcement, showed disinterest in running the club from the very beginning, not appointing a legitimate management or executive director.
Although a temporary solution was found in August in cooperation with the Municipality of Prilep, the promised financial aid of 1.000.000 denars never arrived in the club's account. The reason for the non-payment is cited as the local elections, which left Pobeda without the promised funds that were a key condition for competing in the 2025/2026 season.
Blocked account and despair in Prilep
The current situation of the club is more than alarming. With a blocked bank account and no income for basic expenses, Pobeda simply has no other option but to suspend the competition.
"At this moment, the club has a blocked account and is in an extremely desperate financial situation, which is why we inform the public that the senior team of FK Pobeda Prilep is unable to continue competing in the Second League," reads the official announcement dated February 10, 2026.
This is a huge blow for Prilep, the city that lives for football, and for all sincere sports fans in Macedonia. Pobeda, the club that played in European competitions and won trophies, today became a victim of poor management and bureaucratic labyrinths.
