The European Union's Entry/Exit System will begin its gradual implementation from October 12, with the aim of strengthening security at all border crossings, said EU Ambassador Michalis Rokas.
"This is a measure that aims to strengthen security, but at the same time facilitate the process of entering the EU," Rokas said, adding that citizens from third countries will need to register once with a fingerprint and photo.
According to him, once this is done, automated entry at airports and border crossings will be able to be used on every subsequent trip.
Rokas emphasized that the ETIAS system is not the same as the entry/exit system and called for not creating confusion among citizens.
