The gratitude of the Bulgarians for the creation of the Macedonian state should be deleted from the Preamble

Commenting on the proposal for constitutional amendments, Professor Vlado Popovski says that he is not against the addition of Bulgarians and others, but it is necessary to delete that part of the Preamble in which gratitude is expressed to their ancestors for the creation of Macedonia.

In particular, the section about the Bulgarians, who as a state and people denied Macedonia and the Macedonians as a separate part, should be deleted.

One of the creators of the first Macedonian Constitution says that the Bulgarians did not contribute anything to the creation of Macedonia.


It would be a paradox that we are grateful to the Bulgarians for the creation of Macedonia. Bulgaria has always denied the uniqueness of Macedonians and claimed that we are Bulgarians. I am not against putting them in the Preamble, but the part about gratitude for the creation of the Macedonian state should be deleted because Bulgaria is the opposite of that. One should erase that gratitude to one's ancestors. As an illustration, I will state that the president of Bulgaria, Radev, talks about 1.300 years of common history and that in the future we will have what is incorrect - says Popovski for "Republika".
