The water level in Lake Ohrid, according to today's measurements conducted by the Hydrometeorological Administration, is at 693,16 meters above sea level or 23 centimeters below the average for February, six centimeters above the allowed minimum.
Adverse weather conditions with little rainfall further contribute to the low water level. At the beginning of December last year, the water level in the lake was lowered by as much as two centimeters below the minimum permitted elevation set at 693,10 meters.
Changes in the lake's water level are most evident in the coastal zone, which according to experts is the most important part of the lake's ecosystem.
