The fifth monograph " Goga Pechenkovski" (2004), "Macedonian Spark" from Skopje, is a private edition, printed on 154 pages, in Macedonian. This work presents the history of the Pechenkovski family, which is closely connected with the events in Macedonia, with its history. Their incredible story is a Macedonian chronicle of the survival of the Macedonians, for whom it is difficult to find similar examples in the history of any people.
The life story of Goga Pechenkovski is, at the same time, the history of Prespa, and through it, of Macedonia. Because what happened from the earliest times of Alexander the Great, through the unforgettable battles of Tsar Samuil, to those of Goce Delchev, Stiv Naumov and Mite Bogoevski, in the Prespa region, reflects the entire historical golgotha that Macedonia went through, from its proclamation to an independent and sovereign state.
Goga Pechenkovski was born in Dolno Perovo, a village located in the central part of the territory of the Municipality of Resen, and directly on the northern shore of Lake Prespa. The village is flat, at an altitude of 850 meters above sea level, like the lake. The settlement is about ten kilometers away from Resen.
It is a typical lakeside settlement and is divided into Lower and Upper Perovo. The most fertile orchards in Prespa are located there. In this area, God seems to have abundantly bestowed wealth in agriculture. Therefore, the fruit products from that northern part of Lake Prespa are known and sought after on the markets in Macedonia and beyond.
Perovo is located at almost the same altitude as Lake Prespa. According to legend, the village was named after a man named Pero, who, as a fisherman, found shelter on the shores of Lake Prespa and settled at the site where it is located today.
The birthplace of Goga Pechenkovski, Dolno Perovo has about fifty houses that are almost on the very shore of the Lake, and Gorno Perovo with about twenty modern townhouses is a new settlement on both sides of the Bitola - Oteshevo road. Perovo with its 180 inhabitants, who are mainly engaged in fruit growing and fishing, is an old Macedonian settlement in which only Orthodox Macedonians have always lived.
It is often said that it is beautiful in all of Prespa in autumn when the various colors are intertwined like a spider's web, when the scent of ripe apples wafts through the clear air. It is beautiful in winter when the mountains loom over the Lake, and the flights and sounds of pelicans are carried across the lake expanse.
But Lake Prespa is at its most beautiful in spring when the primroses break through the last remnants of snow on Galichica and Pelister, and in summer when the freshness of the lake fills the shimmering air and it is crowded with numerous swimmers and fishermen.
In the immediate vicinity of the village of Perovo there are several old sites on land and in Lake Prespa. It has one church, "St. Athanasius the Great" near the Drmenska River, which was built in 1867 and renovated in 1993. However, it seems that Perovo is part of the Oteshevo tourist complex.
This stems from the fact that Dolno Perovo is located on the shoreline of Lake Prespa, one of the closest settlements to Sir Han, and thus to Oteshevo and Carina. In this tourist area, both in the past and today, people from Dolno and Gorno Perovo and from other places have found employment.
It should be emphasized that Resen, where Goga Pechenkovski spent a large part of his life, and the entire ethnic Prespa are rich with Lake Prespa, the national parks Galicica and Pelister, which give the region a special beauty. Lake Prespa is the second largest lake in the Republic of Macedonia.
