PART OF THE MONOGRAPH "SLAVE KATYN – LIFE AND WORKS"
My third lexicographic work, co-authored with Ilinka Drakulevska-Grubović and Nikola Jordanovski, is "English-Macedonian veterinary dictionary” (1996) edition of "Matica Makedonska", Skopje, which is published on 296 pages. Reviewers of this lexicographic work are: Dr. Cvetan Micevski, Dr. Mihajlo Zorić and Dr. Zoze Murgoski.
This dictionary is the first publication of its kind in Macedonia, which collects approximately 15.000 words used in veterinary professional and other scientific literature.
It includes terms from veterinary medicine, animal husbandry, agriculture and other related sciences, with an emphasis on the anatomy, physiology of domestic animals, protection, breeding, production, processing of livestock products, reproduction and nutrition of livestock, processing of milk, meat and other products, as well as terms from mechanization in veterinary medicine, agriculture and animal husbandry.
The dictionary also includes terms from parasitology, entomology, phytopathology, beekeeping, hunting and fishing. Therefore, it can rightly be said that it is the first dictionary in the Macedonian bilingual lexicography, which includes scientific and professional words and terms from the field of veterinary and other sciences.
In recent times, veterinary medicine has become a particularly popular branch of knowledge. Educated people and ordinary citizens have begun to pay special attention to it because it is one of the fundamental branches for the survival of the world.
In addition, scientific and professional workers and students of the Veterinary, Agricultural and related faculties and institutes, and other associations and individuals who use the English language in their scientific, professional and teaching work.
Also, the cooperation of the Republic of Macedonia with countries around the world is increasing, and this requires the preparation of various analyses, plans and programs, documents, as well as correspondence and the use of extensive professional and scientific literature in English.
Promotion and announcements:
At the promotion of the Dictionary at the Journalists' Club on June 12, 2021, the reviewers, Dr. Mihajlo Zorić and Dr. Zoze Murgoski, emphasized that this significant publication is the result of many years of practice in translation, scientific, professional and journalistic activities, which the authors carry out in the country and abroad. With special emphasis on my lexicographic activity in the last ten years.
What is significant is the fact that this English-Macedonian Veterinary Dictionary, published by the renowned publisher "Matica Makedonska", is unique in Macedonian veterinary lexicography, anticipated by many professional and scientific institutions and individuals in the Republic of Macedonia.
The dictionary "English-Macedonian Veterinary Dictionary",in my co-authorship with professors Ilinka Drakulevska-Grubović, M.A. and Nikola Jordanovski, Ph.D., represents a significant contribution to the field of veterinary medicine, treating words, expressions and terms used in the English language to be available in the Macedonian language.
The dictionary is prepared with the aim of filling a gap in the field of veterinary terminology and to assist students and researchers who use English in this field and other natural sciences. In addition, the dictionary can be useful in many Macedonian and other homes as a reminder, manual and language aid.
