The left accuses that the Church suffered from 1874 by "Bechtel and Enka"

Date:

In the village of Oreovec, Prilepsko, is the Church "St. Dimitria", a historical temple built in 1874. This important cultural monument suffered serious damage after the blasting by the American-Turkish consortium "Bechtel and Enka". According to the Left party, the blasting in the immediate vicinity caused earthquakes that left traces on this church, where there are frescoes older than 150 years, made of wood and leather, of great importance for the local population and the cultural heritage of the region.

The consequences of the bombing are also felt outside the church. Apart from the damaged walls of the temple, water sources that supply Prilep are also threatened, and houses in the village of Oreovec are also damaged. The rise of dust from blasting further aggravates the situation, harming the local ecology and the health of the population, destroying endemic species of animals.

The dissatisfaction of the residents of Prilep culminated in a ten-day protest blockade on the road to the village of Oreovec, preventing the machines and workers from continuing the blasting. MP Sashko Janchev from Levica joined the protests, supporting the blockade. The Left Party, which previously blocked the agreement with "Bechtel and Enka" with thousands of amendments, has now announced that their activists are ready to support the citizens' struggle physically on the ground.
