Australian tennis player of Greek origin, Nick Kyrgios, made a statement to the domestic media after information emerged about a new doping scandal involving his colleague, Gonzalo Oliveira.
Oliveira received a suspension from the International Integrity Unit, and Kyrgios believes that the "madness" with doped athletes must stop, but he was not at all shocked by this scandal.
"I don't know if you believe me when I say I'm not shocked at all. This is not the first, nor the last case. I don't understand why tennis players reach for these substances so much, but we see it in other sports as well."
"I don't know what was going through Gonzalo's head, but I'm sure he put a black mark on his career. Just like Sinner and everyone else, these scandals will forever remain etched in their careers. This madness must stop, only severe punishments and the withdrawal of all trophies can change anything," the tennis player said.
Kyrgios appeared at Melbourne Park in January with a wild card, but was eliminated in the first round of the Australian Open.
