The magnetism of Ilinden in the diaspora is most strongly experienced during the Ilinden expatriate celebrations. In that period, the Ilinden picnics attract the most attention, as the most massive manifestations of emigration. On those days, numerous church consecrations are held, foundation stones of new spiritual temples are laid, and national, cultural, church, sports and other events are held. These celebrations, especially in Canada, have been held for more than seven decades, which means that they are already thoroughly traditional.

Ilinden celebrations on the American continent have their own typically Macedonian concept, that is, they function as a system that motivates and stimulates the most creative Macedonians in these areas. On them, the primordial, civilizational creed of the nation comes to the fore, expressed through the values created over centuries in the field of music, folklore, embroidery, carving and costume, especially in the means of information.

An important moment in the celebration of the Ilinden celebrations, organized by "United Macedonians", is the holding of the Ilinden football cup, which is already traditional.

All Macedonian football clubs compete to win the Ilinden Trophy, which is awarded by the organization "United Macedonians", as the patron of the cup. The cup is handed over to the winning team during the Ilinden academic evening, by the president of "United Macedonians".
In 1979, celebrations for Ilinden were organized in several Macedonian colonies abroad. Particularly significant manifestations were carried out in the Macedonian church municipalities, at numerous auxiliary village and neighborhood societies which, as the first Macedonian associations, exist and operate in various parts of the American continent.

By tradition, the central Ilinden celebration is held in the great Canadian metropolis of Toronto. Macedonian radio hours in Toronto broadcast holiday programs in the evening of Ilinden. The Macedonian TV show "Macedonian Diary" 4 weeks before Ilinden fills Ilinden's repertoire. A special Ilinden edition was also published by the newspaper of "United Macedonians" "Macedonski glas", and on August 2nd, in the cultural premises of the church "St. Kliment Ohridski" are projected films with an Ilindenan theme.

The celebration of the Ilinden holidays is one more proof that the Macedonians from all parts of Macedonia who built a nest in this distant and democratic country are becoming better known and recognized by the Canadian society. With their activities, on the other hand, of a national character, with their folklore, song, dance, culture and other national features, they represent an increasingly significant part of the mosaic of multicultural Canada and a bridge of rapprochement and cooperation between Canada and Macedonia.
