The Palestinian presidency today condemned the "ethnic cleansing" that Israel is carrying out in the occupied West Bank, its spokesman said in a statement to the Wafa news agency, while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is in the United States where he will meet with President Donald Trump.
Condemning the military operations carried out by Israel in recent days, mainly in the northern part of the West Bank, Nabil Abu Rudeina assessed that they aim to "implement plans for forced displacement and ethnic cleansing."
He called on the US government "to intervene (…) before it is too late. If these violences continue, Abu Rudeina estimated, they could lead to "an uncontrolled explosion of the situation, for which the whole world will pay the price."
Israel carried out a large-scale military operation in the northern West Bank on Sunday, destroying many buildings, the Israeli army said, adding that it had killed more than 14 “terrorists” since January 50. Backed by bulldozers, drones and armored vehicles, Israeli forces launched a massive operation in Jenin on January 21, aiming to eliminate Hamas and Islamic Jihad fighters. The operation began two days after a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip between Israel and Hamas began.
