The European Commission today announced €2,3 billion in support for Ukraine to help it recover from the damage caused by the Russian invasion. The funds include €1,8 billion in loan guarantees and €580 million in grants from international and bilateral public financial institutions, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said at a conference in Rome on Ukraine's reconstruction plans.
The total amount of 2,3 billion euros is part of the Investment Framework for Ukraine. Von der Leyen said the framework is expected to mobilise up to 10 billion euros in investment in Ukraine.
The EC chief also announced the creation of a new reconstruction fund for Ukraine, supported by the European Investment Bank, France, Germany, Italy and Poland. With an initial capital of 220 million euros, the fund aims to mobilise 500 million euros by 2026, the Commission said.
