Do Macedonian citizens eat contaminated fruits and vegetables?

Date:

A large amount of oranges traveled from Egypt to Macedonia. They were a risk to the health of the citizens, because they had the presence of pesticides that are not allowed and are harmful. This is the information on TV 24. In order to determine the reliability, we requested a confirmation from the Food and Veterinary Agency.

The director, Nikolce Babovski, confirmed the information that yesterday they had a positive result on oranges imported from Egypt. They immediately put the shipment under surveillance, gave the economic operator the opportunity to return the oranges, if this is not done the oranges will end up in a landfill but not in circulation in markets and markets.

"With yesterday's results obtained for the import of orange from Egypt, it has been placed under monitoring and must not enter the market under any circumstances. The only possibility is given, from an economic point of view, whether the importer, the economic operator, will return the shipment back, then they will settle the commercial relations between them and the exporter, or if this does not happen, it will end up in a landfill and it will be removed harmlessly. - says the director of AHV, Nikolce Babovski.

Cucumber, spring onion, pepper and tomato, the presence of pesticide residue was found in this type of vegetable. The amounts that have been discovered are above the permitted limits and are toxic to humans, claims Cvetan Tripunovski, president of the Commission for Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management in VMRO-DPMNE. According to Tripunovski, the AHV and the Ministry of Education and Culture have knowingly allowed and put on the market vegetables containing pesticides, which are dangerous for human health.

"AHV, instead of admitting guilt and taking responsibility, comes out with pale statements. VMRO-DPMNE is a creator of fake news, Tsvetan invents the so-called This is the official report in front of me, it lists the pesticides, the quantity and the product that was tested. This corpus delict is simple that there are pesticides in vegetables and our citizens, without being informed by them, must have already consumed them and have some kind of consequences. And what is even more terrible with such an omission is that these pesticides accumulate in the body and remain and can cause lasting consequences, but that will surely be explained to you by one of the medical personnel in more detail on this topic." - says Cvetan Tripunovski - president of the Commission for agriculture, forestry and water management in VMRO-DPMNE.

It is true that there is a detectable residuum of pesticides in the vegetables that Tripunovski is talking about, but it is not true that those vegetables are allowed in circulation, markets, markets and on the tables of the citizens, decided the director of AHV, Nokolche Babovski.

"In certain shipments, we did 63 tests of the shipments according to the monitoring program that are brought into the country. Of those 26 refer to those famous tomatoes from where this whole saga started and there is not a single positive result, we have exactly positive results for one shipment of cucumbers and one shipment of peppers, that is what concerns the import. Do not reach the market can not reach. There is no chance because the economic operators have two options, either to return them to the country of origin, if the state agrees to take them there, or to take them to a landfill and dispose of them harmlessly. Not only in this case, the procedure is the same for every shipment of food products, the law is the same for everyone and applies equally, and this is from certain markets where our inspectors, according to an already established program for this period of the year for enhanced surveillance, do not we needed the press of any party to do our work," says the director of AHV, Nikolce Babovski.

In addition to the imported products, we also asked the AHV for an answer about the domestic production, whether it is safe for consumption.

"It was checked, that's why there are also positive results, and those goods were immediately removed harmlessly." So, let the citizens be calm. Because my children also consume that food.' - says the director of AHV, Nikolce Babovski.

The Ministry of Education and Culture says that until laboratory findings confirm safety, shipments of food, including vegetables, are placed under official supervision. They must not and are not put into circulation before a satisfactory result has been obtained for them. In case of unsatisfactory result, the shipment is canceled or returned to the country of origin.
