Quick country pie with potatoes and cheese

Date:

Juicy filling and crispy crust - an ideal lunch or dinner for the whole family

The village pie is one of those traditional dishes that always finds its place on the table. It is prepared quickly, does not require special culinary skills, and the taste is reminiscent of the homemade food of our grandmothers. The crispy crust and juicy filling of potatoes and cheese make it a perfect choice for breakfast, dinner or a quick lunch.

Ingredients:
  • 500 g pie crusts
  • 500 g of potatoes
  • 200 g white cheese (feta or cottage cheese)
  • 1 onion
  • 2 eggs
  • 200 ml sour cream or yogurt
  • 50 ml of oil
  • salt, pepper and a little red pepper to taste
Preparation:

Peel the potatoes and grate them on a coarse grater, then add a little salt and let them sit for a few minutes to release their water. Drain the excess liquid.

Finely chop the onion and mix it with the grated potatoes. Add the grated cheese, eggs, sour cream and spices, and mix everything well.

Grease the baking sheet with oil and place one layer on top, then sprinkle with oil. Place a portion of the filling on every second layer and continue layering until all the ingredients are used up.

Finish with a crust, brush with oil or sour cream and bake in an oven preheated to 200 degrees for about 30 minutes, until the pie is golden brown.

Serve it warm with yogurt or sour milk.
