The action series created by Sean Ryan based on Matthew Quirke's novel of the same name follows FBI agent Peter Sutherland, who works as a night emergency operator at the White House. Later, following the hotline, an FBI agent answers a call that embroils him in a deadly plot involving a mole in the White House.
The main role in the series is played by Gabriel Basso, a 28-year-old American actor, who very quickly attracted the attention of the audience, especially women. In a recent interview with People magazine, he revealed why he accepted the role.
"What made me accept the role was talking to Sean. He told me how realistically he wanted to portray the story. "I don't like when violence is kind of romanticized, so I'm glad that his vision for the series was like this," Gabriel said.
He admitted that he has not read the novel on which the series is based. "They told me not to read it because the adaptation is completely different. They told me: Just read the script."
The actor emphasizes that the screenwriters wanted to focus on the characters.
He also revealed that he wanted to be as realistic as possible. "I think the most important thing is that Peter remained a real character throughout the series, he didn't become a superhero and nothing could affect him and change him."
He did most of the stunts in the series by himself.
"I struggled in the scenes, but when there's really tough stuff, that's when a stuntman comes in." "It was mostly about falling," says Gabriel.
He began his career as a child star in 2007 with minor roles in films. From 2010 to 2013, he starred in the series The Big C , and then in the science fiction thriller Super 8 in 2011. He took a break from acting for a while, but returned in 2020 after friends convinced him to contact agents.
