Singer Daniel Kajmakoski was kidnapped in Belgrade in February, which the entire region reported on for days.
After the singer and his wife Marina went public and revealed that they were under great stress, Serbian "Kurir" spoke with his lawyer Branislav Stanisic.
– As an assistant and friend of Daniel Kajmakoski, I can inform you that up to this point there have been no concrete results regarding the deprivation of liberty of the suspects for the crime of kidnapping. We hope that the police will be able to carry out all necessary activities in order for the suspects to be brought to justice and for the criminal proceedings to begin as soon as possible – said the lawyer and added:
– We are more or less familiar with the facts that the police have, which could contribute to finding and identifying the perpetrators. The aggravating circumstance is that, according to the information available so far, these are most likely people who are not citizens of the Republic of Serbia and who, due to a combination of circumstances, found themselves on its territory. There is a big question mark as to whether they entered the Republic of Serbia regularly and in accordance with the law, or whether they found themselves here illegally, as migrants.”
He reveals that Daniel's mental state is currently stable and he is performing all previously agreed performances and fulfilling his professional obligations. Among other things, the lawyer revealed details of the kidnapping itself.
– The kidnappers tied Daniel with duct tape and, threatening him with a gun and a knife, forced him into their vehicle, which they then drove in the direction of Ruma. The incident began near the Concrete Hall, where they tried to stop him, and at that moment the police tried to carry out a regular control of the vehicle. Fleeing from the police, the suspects continued towards Ruma at high speed, but due to the fog and unfamiliarity with the terrain, they crashed into an embankment at the exit of the roundabout. The vehicle suffered extensive damage and could not move further. Out of fear of the police, who noticed them, the suspects abandoned the car and fled. The police then found Daniela tied up in the back seat, after which everything that is already known to the public happened – said Stanisic.
Stanisic says of Daniel that he is "an exceptional artist and man who never owed anything to anyone, nor had anything to do with illegal activities."
It reveals that its security is currently at a high level and all measures have been taken to prevent a recurrence of such an event.
