Australian McKeon set a world record in the 100m backstroke

Australian swimming star Kayleigh McKeon broke the 100m backstroke world record in 25m pools at the national championships in Adelaide.

McKeon swam the course in a new world record time in the 100m backstroke with a time of 54,56 seconds.

After the Paris Olympics, where she won gold in the 100m and 200m, 23-year-old McKeon said she was bored of sitting at home and would sign up for the national championships in Adelaide.

"I was a little dizzy sitting at home, so two weeks ago I decided to jump in the pool again. "I didn't prepare specifically, I just intensified my training a little and it obviously paid off," said McKeon.
